Love Your Skin! Part 1

Love Your Skin with what's in your kitchen right now!

Love Your Skin with what's in your kitchen right now!

For a long time once I started deep tissue cleansing, I thought my skin would just be clear and perfect all of the time. Well, it did work amazing wonders! Getting off the sugar, detoxing from the systemic candida and employing clean foods and bowel cleansing completely changed my skin. It became soft and clear...but I still live in places where there is smog and dry winter air and humidity, dust and yes, I am getting older. I still smile a lot so I have those fun little wrinkles around my eyes and mouth. I don't mind them at all and I wasn't freaking out about it. I was observant and noticed that although my diet was clean and I was regularly supporting my internal elimination system, my skin still showed some signs of needing support. It would get dry when I washed the makeup off with triple-milled soap and then the oils were just too much at the time. I wasn't willing or able to spend a lot of money on natural cleansers at the I kept searching and experimenting. Here are some of the wonderful things I discovered...

1. Rosewater

2. Rosehip oil

3. Jojoba oil

4. Tea Tree oil - for blemishes

5. Natural calcium Bentonite clay - Face mask

6. Pure aloe vera leaf gel - straight from the leaf applied at night

I also started learning more about self love and self care from my teacher Molly Nichols. That changed everything for me. I truly believe in self love and self care and honoring this wonderful body that was given and entrusted to me.

I kept my beauty regimen pretty simple but as we all know, our bodies don't stay the same. We shift and change, grow and heal and evolve. I recently discovered an incredible woman whose work has completely helped change my skin and how I care for it impeccably. Her name is Sheetal Rawal and she created Apsara skincare. I have been experimenting for the past couple of months on the different diy facemasks she sends out and I am in love with this! I'm starting to have girls nights and parties where we do these different facemasks as alternatives to expensive or chemical-laden face care products. I regularly give myself the gift of a home spa treatment with facials using simple and natural ingredients. Here is her website and two of my favorite facemasks that Sheetal has shared with all of us. I am going to be trying out her face serum soon as well. Enjoy!

The two below are specifically using Omega-3 ingredients to deeply nourish the skin. These are taken directly from her post...

1. Ingredients

Cacao powder 1 TBSP

Turmeric powder 1/4th tsp

Coconut milk, to form a thick paste

"Mix all the ingredients in a bowl till a thick paste is formed. Spread the mask over your face and leave it on for 15-minutes until it starts to harden. Wash with lukewarm water and follow with your daily skin care routine. "

2. Olive Oil & Coconut Face Mask

"The goodness of olive oil with the nourishing properties of coconut oil gives you a powerful anti-aging mask. This mask not only provides omega-3s from olive oil, but also coconut’s medium chain fatty acids to deeply invigorate your skin. With regular use, lines and wrinkles can look far less apparent."

Olive Oil, 2 tsp.

Coconut oil, 1 tsp.

"Mix the two ingredients together and massage into your skin for 5-7 minutes. Leave on for another 12 minutes. Wipe off any excess with a tissue and follow with your  toner, serum and lotion. "
